I had LASEK surgery in Decemeber 2010 and it was the best decision I've made lately!
It's been over one month and I couldn't happier! :-)
The actual surgery is not painful or scary. Since I am used to wearing contacts- I have no problem with things in my eyes, or someone touching my eyes. The whole surgery takes about 20 minutes and this includes the preparation before (nurses dress you in surgical clothes, clean your face and eyes. Then I was taken into the operating room. There was a nurse who was tapping her finger on my arm- which really helped calm me down and kept me focused.
The surgeon does his thing. I promise you- theres nothing to be afraid of! You feel nothing. And it was actually a cool experience.
Afterwards I went and lay down for about 20 minutes. Then my friends took me home. Its a uncomfortable to open your eyes, so try to keep them closed as much as you can. Every time I opened my eyes a lot of tears came out, which was a little scary, but I got over it.
There's no pain- just serious discomfort! But this only lasts for 2 days and 2 nights. Then the worst is over and you'll be on your way to enjoying your new eyes :-)
If you are patient, and just remain calm-- everything will be cool :-)
