What convinced you to go through the LASIK/LASEK surgery? And what reasons and why did you choose Dream Eye Clinic?
I had problems wearing contacts for the past few years, and wearing glasses was difficult with my extracurricular activities. Eventually, it was looking like contacts wouldn't have been an option for me. I had talked with my husband a year ago about getting Lasik/Lasek done, but we had no idea where to start. When we got to South Korea, we heard about Dream Eye Clinic through a friend, and we both decided that it was worth looking into. Dream Eye Clinic explained everything so thoroughly, so effectively, and made you feel comfortable enough that, well, I had my LASEK surgery the same day as my consultation. I don't regret that decision. Prior to going, I had done research on the instruments they use for the procedures, and they are the best you can come by. That put my mind at ease even before the friendly staff did.
Tell us about what has changed since you had your LASIK / LASEK surgery.
What are the major changes comparing your life before and after the surgery?
I no longer wake up and have to fumble on the nightstand for my glasses. I don't wake up with my eyes bothering me because I forgot to take out my contacts the night before. I no longer have to worry about a visual aid malfunction, like a popped out lens in my glasses, or searching my desk or the floor for a contact that shifted and fell out while I was wearing it. Two years ago a lost contact nearly cost me getting a great antelope, it's hard to shoot with only one good seeing eye. The thought of never being hassled by inconvient sight is a blessing. My vision is blurry now, and the recovery process is slow, but it is so worth it when you wake up, and you see like you should have seen all your life.
Were there any inconveniences during the recovery process?
And tell us about how satisfied you are with your newly improved vision. ?
During the initial recovery process, I lived like a mole (all the blinds drawn in our apartment) for about a week. While being a klutz I hit my head, subsequent to having the bandage contacts removed, and fell into the category of 5% of patients who tear their new epithelial layer and that was painful. The first month, things are fuzzy and it's frustrating because you want to see perfectly right away. This isn't a problem with LASIK, but with the LASEK it is. However, LASEK fit my lifestyle which is rough and tumble, so the slowly improving vision is an inconvienience, but I see the improvement every day. Each day I marvel that I'm seeing the way that I'm seeing, that this sight is really mine, with no necessary accessories. It's amazing. I can't wait to see how things look in another month
What were the most valuable and memorable experiences at Dream Eye Clinic?<
I can't stress enough how kind and patient the staff are. They answered any and all questions. One of the reception staff even remembered my name when I showed up without an appointment after my epithelial tore. I was in pain, she remembered me, guided me to a chair, and was genuinely concerned. I think the way that they treat you is memorable. Mr. Choo was a very funny, down to earth guy, who is very capable and knowledgeable about his profession. They all had a way of making you feel like you were in good hands. Dr. Lee makes sure nothing goes wrong, and he's very professional and courteous.
I think another valuable experience at the Clinic was the procedure itself. I was not very nervous, but there was some concern when I went to the surgery floor. Then, it was over so FAST. The procedure was painless, and there was a nice woman patting my leg the whole time to comfort me. It took only 10 minutes for everything to be done and I was in the recovery room. 10 minutes to change the quality of my life? It's mind blowing
Finally, what else do you want to tell us (our medical staffs, doctors, and nurses)? (Anything is OK including some of your wishes, advice, or concerns that may help us improve ourselves, our service.) ? I'd like to say thank you. Living in another country has it's own stresses, but working with you made this process the best it could have been. You're kind, courteous people who really make the Dream Eye Clinic what it is. Everyone was warm and friendly, even if they didn't always understand what I was saying, there was always someone there who did. Thank you so much. I trusted you with my sight, and don't regret it at all. I only get one pair of eyes, thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the best possible care of them. You'll never know how much it means to me, and I'm sure to all of your patients, to receive that kind of care. My only wish, was that there were pain relieving eye-drops for the few days after the surgery. Other than that, it has been a lovely experience. Finally, a big THANKS to Mr. Choo, who always put a smile on my face when I went in, even if it was a frustrating day. Thank you Dream Eye Clinic: I can SEE
