After going back and forth numberous times, "should I, shouldn't I?" I could not be happier with my decision to get laser eye surgery. Contacts always irritated my eyes and wearing glasses was such a nuisance, but I never even considered getting the surgery when I was in the States. The thought never even crossed my mind. After coming to Korea and hearing from so many of my students that they had successfully undergone the procedure, I decided to look into it. A Canadian friend recommended Dream Eye Center to me, so I came in for a consultation. I was immediately impressed by the facility and staff. Everyone was so professional and friendly. The person who did my consultation and then all of my subsequent check-ups was Young Jin, a super friendly staff member who speaks great English. He explained everything to me in detail and made me feel really comfortable. The doctor who performed the surgery is excellent, as well. After the lasering was finished on each eye, he said "It was completed perfectly." Believe me, "perfect" is exactly the word you want to hear after your eyes have just undergone the strangest experience they will ever go through in life. The surgery itself wasn't painful, just very strange. In terms of recovery, I was told that I would have some discomfort for about 3 days and that my full vision would gradually be restored. I have to say, it was a really tough 3 days, as my eyes were suuuuuper sensitive to light and they watered almost non-stop. You don't realize how uncomfortable eye watering can be until it doesn't stop for several days. But, if that's all that I had to deal with for a future of better than 20/20 vision, it was more than worth it. Also, though I was told that most people experience dryness for a while after the surgery, or in some cases forever, I haven't found my eyes to be much drier than usual. They are certainly not as dry as they were when I wore contacts. All in all, I'm so happy I decided to go ahead and get the surgery, and I'm very satisfied with the service and care I received at Dream Eye Center in Gangnam.
