I had LASEK surgery at the very beginning of October and I have been extremely happy with it.
It was a little frustrating at first as my eyes took time to heal and I wanted to be able to see perfectly. I was impatient to have perfect vision immediately. That being said, I was incredibly surprised when I sat up in the operation room after surgery and could ALREADY see better than before. It was amazing. And as time progressed, it was fun to see how my eyes were healing - one week I could my calendar from across the room, one week I could read my computer screen without the light bothering me, etc.
I was very lucky that I did not have a lot of pain after surgery. I was very nervous going into it, but after surgery I had minimal discomfort and pain. My eyes stung a bit but they weren't really painful. I spent more time resting over the next few days, but did not feel limited in what I could or couldn't do. I could read a book, or watch TV, I just had to rest my eyes more often. I haven't had any problems with dry eyes, nor have I had any other problems.
Now it has been almost two months since my surgery and I have amazing vision. Some days I stop and think, "I can see!!". It's amazing and wonderful, so much better than having to switch between contacts and glasses all the time, and I love knowing that I won't have to spend time and money at the eye doctor every year or two for the rest of my life.
I am incredibly happy with the decision I made. I would do it again. Susan, Dr. Kwak and the rest of the staff at Dream Eye Center are very kind and patient. It was worth the extra time and money to travel to Gangnam and have my surgery performed at a clinic with a great reputation.
If you are considering LASEK, I would say go for it!
